New Wholesale Store, BJ’s, Set to Open in Myrtle Beach This Fall
MYRTLE BEACH
– The Myrtle Beach area is welcoming a newcomer to its retail scene this fall – BJ’s Wholesale Club. This multi-department membership store is set to offer local residents a wide variety of products at wholesale prices, solidifying its role as a one-stop shopping destination.
BJ’s Wholesale Club plans to establish a convenient location along U.S. Highway 501, just across from Tanger Outlets. Originating in New England back in 1984, BJ’s now operates 244 clubs across 20 states and boasts over 7 million members, reflecting its well-rooted reputation in the retail industry.
Membership options for both personal and business categories start at $55 per year. These memberships feature substantial discounts on food, a comprehensive range of coupons, access to BJ’s gas stations, and more. This marks the second location in South Carolina, with another already operating in Summerville.
Community Impact
Beyond providing budget-friendly shopping alternatives, BJ’s is also renowned for its commitment to actively supporting local communities. The store pledges partnerships with organizations such as Lowcountry Food Bank and Feeding America to combat hunger.
Heather Singleton, Regional Food Center Manager at Lowcountry Food Bank, commended BJ’s proactive approach to waste reduction and community aid. She explained that items nearing their sell-by dates or removed from the shelves for quality reasons are donated for immediate distribution in the local community.
In fact, Horry County – where this new outlet will be based – has the highest number of food insecure individuals among the 10 counties served by Lowcountry Food Bank. This retail-giving initiative from BJ’s, Singleton argues, could be instrumental in addressing this pressing issue.
Diverse Product Range
As for what customers can expect upon stepping into BJ’s Wholesale Club, there’s no shortage of variety. Fresh food, including a full-service deli and bakery, will be freshly available, ready to serve as meals.
“We really are offering a treasure hunt experience,” stated Brianna Keene, Senior Manager of External Communications at BJ’s. Besides grocery shopping, customers can explore sections featuring apparel, electronics, toys, home decor, and seasonal items. The store also accepts manufacturers’ coupons, adding more value for consumers.
A set opening date is yet to be confirmed, however, the community can expect a grand opening event to mark the occasion. It seems clear that BJ’s Wholesale Club has its sight set not just on expanding its retail reach but also integrating within the community fabric, making it a valuable addition to Myrtle Beach this fall.
