Hey Myrtle Beach! Grab your clubs and get ready to celebrate because our beloved Whispering Pines Golf Club is set to undergo some serious upgrades! That’s right; the Myrtle Beach City Council gave the green light on October 22 to a substantial renovation project worth $1.45 million at this picturesque golf course, nestled just across from the Myrtle Beach International Airport.
Now, let’s dive into the juicy details. This renovation project, which is targeted for 2025, is going to transform Whispering Pines into an even better golfing destination! The plans include everything from new greens and bunker renovations to the removal of some trees that have overstayed their welcome. But that’s not all! No golfer likes a bumpy parking experience, so they’re also planning to repave the parking lot and install a brand new irrigation system to keep those greens lush and beautiful.
If you didn’t know, Whispering Pines is owned by our city and is managed by Atlantic Golf Management, led by none other than Chip Smith, who once owned the TPC of Myrtle Beach. Since 2014, Atlantic Golf has been running the course under a partnership designed to benefit both the city and the golf club. Chip presented his renovation proposal during a council workshop back in September, and it didn’t take long for the council to hit the approval button during their recent monthly meeting, using hospitality tax funds to finance this exciting project.
So, what can we expect from these renovations? Chip Smith himself mentioned, “It will be a whole lot better product.” And we couldn’t agree more! The updates should not only enhance the overall experience for golfers but also attract even more visitors to the course, which is always a win for our local economy. Can you picture a sunny day, swinging your clubs on pristine greens, feeling that refreshing coastal breeze? Sounds amazing, right?
Whispering Pines Golf Club has always been a community favorite, and these renovations are just what we need to keep it that way. With features designed for all skill levels, from newbies to seasoned pros, there’s no doubt this course will continue to be a hotspot for golf enthusiasts. Plus, who doesn’t love a good day outside soaking up the Myrtle Beach sun?
As the renovation timeline draws closer, we’ll keep you updated on all the progress and when you might be able to roll out the golf cart for those first rounds on the newly revamped course. So, whether you’re an occasional player or a passionate fan of the sport, it looks like it’s time to mark those calendars and get ready for some major fun!
Until then, let’s support our local golf scene by visiting whenever we can. Here’s to making unforgettable memories on the fairways of Whispering Pines – we can’t wait to see how it all pans out! Happy golfing, Myrtle Beach!
