Waccamaw Outfitters Announces Closure After a Decade of Adventure in Conway

Waccamaw Outfitters Closes After a Decade of Adventure in Conway

Conway, S.C. has welcomed many unique businesses over the years, but one spot that has become a beloved staple among locals and visitors will soon be closing its doors. After ten fantastic years, Waccamaw Outfitters announced on social media it will be shutting down, leaving many in the community with mixed feelings of nostalgia and gratitude.

Good Times on the Riverwalk

If you’ve ever enjoyed a leisurely kayak rental or a fun-filled boat tour on the Conway Riverwalk, chances are good you have a special story tied to Waccamaw Outfitters. This shop has been the go-to place for adventure seekers who wanted to explore the stunning waterways while soaking up the natural beauty of our grand area. From fishing supplies to comfy apparel, Waccamaw Outfitters was always there to gear you up for some outdoor fun!

In a heartfelt Facebook post, owner Matt Varnadore shared some poignant reflections about the decision to close the business. “Like the saying goes, all good things must come to [an] end,” he stated. “Well, the end has come for us at Waccamaw Outfitters. We have met so many great people and made a lot of new friends.” A big shout-out to all the customers who filled the shop with laughter and adventure throughout the years!

New Adventures Await!

Matt has exciting plans ahead, transitioning into a full-time career as a yacht broker. So, if you thought you’d seen the last of him out on the water, think again! He expressed his appreciation towards the City of Conway for their support and for providing the platform that allowed the business to flourish over the past decade.

What’s Next for Waccamaw?

As they prepare for their closing days, Waccamaw Outfitters will be liquidating their inventory which means it’s a great time to snag some last-minute deals on supplies and equipment! Whether you’re looking to upgrade your fishing gear or want some cute apparel to flaunt next summer, you’ll want to stop by soon before everything is gone. But remember, those gift certificates are still valid until December 31 or until they run out of merchandise!

A Memorable Journey

Before the big closure, the business faced some challenges, including a forced two-week shutdown in August after experiencing flooding from Tropical Storm Debby. Despite this setback, Waccamaw Outfitters showed perseverance and continued to provide a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all their customers.

A Fond Farewell

So why not head over to Waccamaw Outfitters one last time? Let’s show them some love before they turn the page to a new chapter. Yong fans of fun-filled days on the river will surely miss this fixture, but we wish Matt and his team nothing but the best in their future adventures!
