Lane Closed, Power Cut After Truck Strikes Utility Pole in Conway

Early Morning Incident Disrupts Traffic and Power Supply

Conway, S.C. – A major transportation and utility disruption has surfaced this morning as a truck struck a utility pole in Downtown Conway. The incident occurred during the early morning commute at around 6.am, leading to a lane closure and power outage.

Truck Hits Utility Pole

The unfortunate incident occurred on Main Street at Ninth Avenue. Witnesses reported that the truck, despite the fairly clear weather, unexpectedly swerved into the utility pole, causing significant damage. The immediate effect of the crash resulted in an electrical disruption within the surrounding area, while the impacted pole posed potential safety risks to passing motorists and pedestrians.

Conway police made it to the scene shortly thereafter, redirecting traffic and working with other responders to manage the situation. According to the police report, no injuries have been recorded from the incident, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Lane Closure and Power Outage

As a result of the incident, the southbound lane leading to Downtown Conway was promptly closed to facilitate repairs. This action has caused minor congestion as road users are urged to seek alternative routes in the meantime.

Furthermore, the impact against the utility pole led to a widespread power outage. Electricity has been cut off in several parts of the city to mitigate any possible electrical hazards that may arise from the damaged utility pole. Utility Crews have since been on the site assessing the damage and working tirelessly to restore power.

Expected Duration of Repair

Though a sense of normalcy is keenly anticipated, officials have predicted a couple of hours for restoration work to complete. Meanwhile, residents are advised to take necessary precautions during this period. Any homes or businesses within the outage area are urged to safely unplug their electrical appliances to prevent possible surges when power is restored.
