In the picturesque town of Edwards, Colorado, nestled near the famous Vail ski area, Troon just made a splash in the golfing world by acquiring The Club at Cordillera. This private golf club is a gem in Colorado’s mountainous terrain and now joins Troon’s expansive portfolio of properties, making them the proud owners of six unique locations across five states.
The acquisition went through on December 10, officially transferring ownership from Wind Rose Holdings LLC to Troon. This isn’t just a simple buy; Troon has been managing this stunning 54-hole mountain club since January 2013 through its exclusive division, Troon Privé. Now, with control of the facility, Troon plans to elevate the club experience even further.
The Club at Cordillera boasts not one, but three 18-hole golf courses—named Valley, Mountain, and Summit—alongside three impressive clubhouses and a variety of other amenities for club members to indulge in. The summer sun calls for a round of golf, while the evenings can be spent enjoying the total club atmosphere.
Troon’s president and CEO, Tim Schantz, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “The Club at Cordillera is an amazing property with a wonderful membership, many of whom we’ve had the pleasure of serving for a dozen years.” Schantz believes strongly in the golf club’s future and is looking forward to providing an outstanding membership experience.
After pulling off a multi-million-dollar renovation just last year at the Valley Club, Troon’s ambition is far from over. Plans are already underway for a bunker renovation on the renowned Valley Course designed by the acclaimed Tom Fazio. This project is set to kick off in 2025, ensuring that the course remains at the top of its game.
Stability seems to be the name of the game here. All current management team members and employees at The Club at Cordillera will retain their roles, paving the way for a smooth transition. Michael Henritze, the General Manager of the club, has been leading the charge since the beginning and brings over two decades of experience working with Troon. He emphasized, “From the day Troon set foot on property, the company has brought stability and a pursuit of excellence to The Club.”
The Club at Cordillera is not just any golf course; it’s one of the largest exclusive golf communities in North America, sprawling over 7,000 acres in the stunning Vail Valley. The breathtaking landscapes are designed by legendary golfers such as Hale Irwin and Jack Nicklaus, offering a unique golfing experience like no other.
With this latest acquisition, Troon now operates six fabulous properties and provides management services at more than 900 locations in a whopping 45 states and 35 countries globally. This means they are not just about Colorado; they have included precious gems like Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, Eagle Mountain Golf Club in Fountain Hills, Arizona, NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, The Clubs at St. James in South Port, North Carolina, and St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine, Florida.
As the dust settles on the latest acquisition, one thing is for sure: The Club at Cordillera is set to shine brighter than ever under Troon’s watchful eye.
