Roadwork Ahead Sign

Traffic Changes Coming to Myrtle Beach!

Attention all Myrtle Beach residents! Mark your calendars because we’ve got some important news about our local roads that you won’t want to miss. Starting September 16, crews from the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will be kicking off some much-needed work to replace a portion of the Highway 472 bridge. So, if you often cruise through this area, heads up!

What’s Happening?

The intersection where Highway 472 and Highway 472 meet is going to be closed while the work is underway. We know, closures can be a real hassle, but this is all part of keeping our roads safe and in good shape. The project is scheduled to wrap up by the end of October, which means just a little patience will go a long way for all of us.

How Will This Impact Your Drive?

During this time, traffic will be redirected through a few alternative routes. If you’re planning to travel in the area, you’ll want to use West Highway 19 to connect with Highway 905 and then swing over to Highway 66 to get onto the Conway Bypass. While it might add a few moments to your journey, keeping an eye on local traffic updates will help you navigate the detour smoothly.

Why Is This Important?

These bridge upgrades play a vital role in ensuring that our beloved Myrtle Beach has safe and reliable infrastructure. Regular maintenance like this prevents bigger issues down the road and keeps our community running smoothly. After all, we want to be able to hit the beach without worrying about potholes and traffic woes!

Stay Informed!

As we get closer to the start date, it’s a great idea to keep informed about any further updates regarding the construction. Check out local city websites, community boards, or even your favorite social media channels to stay in the loop. You can also share your experiences with your neighbors so that everyone is prepared and knows about the best alternative routes.

What Can You Do?

We all know that traffic changes can be a bummer. But with just a little planning, we can make it work! Consider carpooling or using public transport if your schedule allows it. Plus, this could be a chance to explore some new neighborhoods or take a scenic drive while the work is happening. Who knows? You might discover a new favorite spot around town!

A Little Patience Goes a Long Way

Remember, this construction is only temporary! Once the bridge is fully updated and safe, we can all get back to enjoying our drives through Myrtle Beach without any detours. With a bit of patience and understanding, we can make this transition smoother for everyone.

So, Myrtle Beach, gear up for the changes coming your way this September. Let’s work together to keep our community thriving, and watch out for those detour signs. Safe travels!
