MYAKKA CITY, Fla. – Exciting times are here for golf lovers in this sunny Floridian paradise! 🎉 That’s right, the grand opening of Soleta Golf Club took place on December 10, and it looks like it’s going to shake up the golf scene around here, adding yet another stunning course to Florida’s already robust offerings. This project is particularly special because it’s the brainchild of the three-time major champion and seasoned course designer Nick Price.
Soleta isn’t just another golf course. It’s a labor of love that took only 11 months to build! The team moved over a whopping one million cubic tons of earth to turn what was once a flat pasture into an exciting, dynamic course. With bright-white native sand framing every hole, this course is not just visually breathtaking but also provides a unique challenge for every golfer.
Price himself had a keen eye during the course’s creation, emphasizing how crucial the sand was to the overall design. “It was the sand that I really liked,” Price explained in a relaxed chat. “We used it to enhance the views and achieve a perfect balance between sand, grass, and water.” Sounds like a dream for any golfer!
One of the coolest features of Soleta is its flexibility. With free-flowing tees that stretch out to 125 yards, golfers have the freedom to determine how they want to play each day. “The hole you played the day before is not necessarily the hole you are going to play tomorrow,” Price mentioned, highlighting how the setup can cater to both the seasoned players and those just starting out. Whether you’re a mid-handicapper or a lady just looking to enjoy a round, Soleta has something for everybody!
Soleta is attracting attention fast. Already, it has brought in around 170 members, and almost a dozen lots are up for grabs in this exclusive community. The estate isn’t just about the golf; it promises a compact community with 93 stunning homes that will cost at least $3 million each. But don’t worry, most of the homes will be situated away from the course, making sure the natural beauty is preserved.
What else can residents look forward to? A David Leadbetter golf academy, Toptracer range, and a nine-hole walking-only course named “The Colt” will be added to this impressive array of amenities. Plus, you can expect a lively clubhouse featuring family-friendly activities like tennis courts, a swimming pool, and even pickleball facilities!
Soleta’s opening comes alongside other noteworthy events in the golfing world. For instance, a new public course named Webbs Reserve, designed by none other than Nicklaus Design, just opened in Florida’s Babcock Ranch, receiving rave reviews!
Meanwhile, the much-anticipated revitalization of Augusta’s city course, “The Patch,” is about to kick off, promising thrilling new experiences for local golfers. And on a different note, a California county recently sunk over $9 million into purchasing a 9-hole golf course to create a safe camping space, showcasing the wide range of golf-related news going around.
In more news, the renowned Pinehurst Resort has launched new upscale four-bedroom cottages overlooking their famous No. 8 course, with bookings starting from May 1, 2025. Golf lovers are being treated more and more to luxurious experiences!
As we step into this new golfing chapter, Soleta Golf Club stands firm as a delightful addition not only to Myakka City but also to the greater Florida golfing community. Here’s to many rounds of fun and challenge ahead!
