Second Suspect Apprehended in Myrtle Beach ATM Heist

Myrtle Beach Authorities Capture Second Suspect in $52,930 ATM Robbery

After weeks of investigation, authorities in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina have finally apprehended the second suspect involved in the massive ATM robbery. This major breakthrough comes a few weeks after the arrest of the first suspect, marking an important milestone in the investigation into this grand theft.

Arrest of the First Suspect

Back on the 9th of August, Kendrick Boston, a 20-year-old male, was taken into custody in connection with the robbery. Over $50,000 was stolen during the crime, and Boston was charged with the criminal conspiracy and for intruding a bank with the intent to steal, according to official reports.

Apprehension of the Second Suspect

This week, on Monday, the second suspect, identified as 20-year-old Undre Childs, was apprehended by the police and charged with criminal conspiracy and robbery.

The robbery incident reportedly took place on April 23 at the Bank of America’s ATM location on Pine Island Road. Giving details about the case, it was found that a technician was at work, fixing a jam at the ATM site, when Boston and Childs, in masks and disguises, drove to the location in a truck.

The Robbery Incident

The suspects then allegedly ordered the technician to step aside while they hurriedly removed the cash cassettes from the machine. The total cash stolen from the ATM was reported to be $52,930, according to the police report.

Post-heist, the duo is said to have driven the truck to a nearby business location, where they parked and presumably made their getaway.

Forensic Evidence

Notably, warrants obtained by the investigators show that forensic evidence played a crucial role in identifying and tracing the suspects. This includes Boston’s fingerprints found on the rear driver door of the truck as well as multiple items that were a DNA match to Boston.

As of now, Boston continues to be held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center with a bond of $50,000. Childs, on the other hand, remains in detention at the Myrtle Beach jail.
