Known for her exceptional skills on the golf course, Hyten has recently committed to play for Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida, as she inches closer to joining the fiercely competitive NCAA Division I landscape. Hyten kicked off her senior season with impressive showings in several key tournaments. On September 25, she participated in the Gateway Metro Conference Tournament held at Woodlands Golf Club, which served as a perfect stage for her to showcase her skills. Following that on September 26, she competed in the Gary Bair Tournament at Belk Park Golf Course, where her dedication and passion for the sport shined as bright as her golf balls on the greens. With a career highlighted by an astounding 15 victories—a staggering seven of which came just last year—Hyten has certainly left an indelible mark on the Father McGivney golf program. She made history as the first golfer from her school to be named Player of the Year for Class 1A girls by the Metro-East Golf Coaches Association. Additionally, she clinched her third consecutive regional championship and led her team to its first sectional championship.

Throughout the regular season, Hyten was unstoppable. She hoisted trophies after winning the Gateway Metro Conference championship, the Alton Invitational, the Illinois-Missouri River Challenge, the Panther Invitational, and the Madison County Tournament. To top it all off, she finished fourth at the Class 1A state tournament, recording a two-round total of 7-over 151 with remarkable individual rounds of 2-over 74 and 5-over 77.

Consistent Excellence: Class 1A Achievements

Hyten’s remarkable journey includes two top-10 finishes at the Class 1A state tournament, with an impressive ninth-place finish during her sophomore year. She holds nearly all of the program records for Father McGivney, a direct testament to her hard work and determination. Setting records is clearly her forte, as she not only set the bar for an 18-hole round at 2-under 70 but also shattered the 9-hole record with an astounding even-par 32 during a quadrangular match.

This season, Hyten’s averages are equally impressive, boasting a 9-hole average of 35.5 and an 18-hole average of 73.6. For aspiring female golfers, she has set an example of what hard work and perseverance can achieve. Watching her grace the fairways is a lesson in resilience!

A Bright Future Awaits

As excitement continues to build, Hyten is gearing up for upcoming competitions. She has already secured her spot at the Class 1A Rochester Sectional on October 7, where she will not only compete individually but also represent her Father McGivney team. The team recently celebrated its first regional championship in golf with a score of 338, besting Breese Central by eight strokes, making this moment even more thrilling.
