Hey Myrtle Beach! We’ve got some news you need to know if you’re hitting the roads in the next few weeks. If you travel down Mr. Joe White Avenue, you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for some ongoing lane closures. Yep, that’s right! City officials are letting us know about intermittent closures as part of a repaving project that’s just kicked off.
So, when’s this happening? The whole shebang started on Sunday, October 20. The South Carolina Department of Transportation is tackling the stretch of Mr. Joe White Avenue that runs between Chester Street and Kings Highway. It’s going to keep crews busy for about three weeks, so expect to see those hardworking folks out there treating our roads at night.
They’ll be working nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., trying to smooth out and pave that important route. You know how it goes – nighttime seems like the best time to get this job done to avoid too much traffic. The plan is to continue this work westward toward Highway 17 Bypass.
Now, what does this mean for you? Well, it’s best to factor in some extra time for your evening and early morning commutes since you might hit a few snags along the way. With lane closures being the name of the game, there could be some temporary delays. So, if you’ve got plans for a late-night ice cream run at Cool-Dogs or an early morning beach stroll, please plan accordingly!
And hey, while it might be inconvenient at times, let’s keep in mind that this repaving work is for the benefit of all drivers and pedestrians in our beautiful Myrtle Beach. A smooth ride is always worth the slight detour, right? Plus, this means less bumping around when you’re trying to enjoy the stunning views of our coastline.
As it gets underway, be sure to stay tuned for any updates regarding the project. Traffic patterns might change, and we want you to be the most informed driver out there. Hopefully, you won’t have to deal with too many “road work ahead” signs—no one loves that, but it’s a necessary evil to keep our community moving smoothly.
And remember, when driving through any construction zone, safety first! Watch for any painted signs or markers and follow directions from the crew members. They’re just trying to keep us safe while making our roads better.
In the meantime, let’s keep our fingers crossed for nice weather! Sunny skies and mild temperatures always make any kind of construction work go a wee bit easier. So, as the temperature gradually settles at around 73°F right now, it’s perfect for some road work. Just right for a little paving, right?
So, that’s the scoop, Myrtle Beach! Drive safe and remember to enjoy the ride—eventually, you’ll have a smooth path taking you wherever need to go in our lovely coastal town!
