In the coastal city of Myrtle Beach, a persistent influx of tropical moisture is causing scattered storms to turn increasingly prevalent. With the weekend around the corner, the local weather system forecasts heavy rain commencing from Thursday and extending through Friday.
As per the local meteorological department, seasonably hot weather was reported on Wednesday, with afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 80s to near 90. The extremely high humidity intensified the heat, pushing the heat index to around 100 – 104 during the afternoon. Due to the considerable humidity, pop-up storms made their appearance once again.
The possibility of downpours was predominant along the beaches from sunrise until midday, shifting inland through the afternoon with a 40% probability for Wednesday’s rain.
As the week progresses, a stronger surge of tropical moisture is set to move into the Carolinas, peaking on Thursday and Friday. Concurrently, a weak front will approach the region, acting as a catalyst for a more significant precipitation and more prevalent showers and storms. Chances for rainfall are expanded to 60% with potential downpours at any time of the day or night.
Data from the local meteorological department envisages an impressive accumulation, with 5-day totals possibly reaching 2 to 3 inches in certain locations. Although other areas will experience relatively less precipitation, the current weather pattern is conducive for an overall drought improvement.
During the weekend, a weak front is set to descend through the Carolinas, bringing lower humidity and reduced chances of rainfall. Showers and storms will remain probable through the first half of Saturday, following which drier air will lessen the chances by the afternoon. By Sunday, the probability of rainfall drops to just 20%, with most areas anticipated to remain dry. Alongside the more arid predictive weather, local residents can expect a slightly lower humidity level by the end of the weekend, making the weather a bit more comfortable.
As the weather conditions remain unstable, locals are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and plan their activities accordingly.
