Sponsor Our ArticlesCharleston, S.C. – In a concerning development surrounding the case of the rape and murder of teenager Brittanee Drexel, an important figure, Angel Vause, longtime girlfriend of the admitted killer, has reportedly entered a plea agreement. As established by legal documents filed recently, Vause has reportedly consented to plead guilty to making two counts of false statements to a federal agent.
Brittanee Drexel went missing on April 25, 2009, in Myrtle Beach, sparking a nationwide manhunt. Tragically, her remains were found in the Harmony Township area in May 2022. In a shocking confession to law enforcement, Raymond Moody admitted that he and Vause had offered Drexel a chance to party and smoke marijuana while she was walking down the street. What seemed like a casual invitation masked a dark plan: The pair took Drexel to a campsite in Georgetown County, where Moody kidnapped, raped, and killed the teenager.
Although Vause has never been brought to trial in Drexel’s case, the U.S Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) alleges that Vause lied to agents regarding her involvement in Drexel’s disappearance. The criminal charges stipulate that Vause falsely claimed to have gone to pick up keys at the time of the killing, using it as a pretext for being in an entirely different location. Additionally, she refuted allegations of confiscating Drexel’s phone, alleging that the victim kept her cell phone throughout the ordeal. However, the FBI purportedly believes that Vause disposed of Drexel’s phone between Georgetown and Charleston counties.
Vause’s plea agreement indicates a maximum sentence exposure of a decade in prison, a hefty $500,000 fine, and six years of supervised release. Her plea hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. on August 12 at the federal courthouse in Charleston.
Raymond Moody, who pleaded guilty to raping and killing Drexel, was sentenced to life imprisonment in October 2022. He is currently serving his sentence at Lieber Correctional Institute in Ridgeville.
This case serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences that can occur when individuals are lured into harmful situations under false pretenses. As investigations continue, it is crucial to ensure that justice is served for all individuals involved in the tragic loss of Brittanee Drexel.
