There are several parks, walking trails, open grounds and recreational centers in Myrtle Beach. Among the various parks two are State parks maintained by the State Government and other parks and recreational centers are managed by local governing bodies.
The Grand Strand is home to two state parks: Myrtle Beach State Park at 4401 South Kings Highway and Huntington Beach State Park at Murrells Inlet at 16148 Ocean Highway. Both parks are extremely different; Huntington Beach has better wildlife viewing opportunities and is home to Atalaya, a historic artist’s retreat and summer house. Myrtle Beach State Park also has a fishing pier and is located on the oceanfront.
