Learn About Native Plants at the Upcoming Spring Market in Conway

Spring is about to come alive in Conway, South Carolina with the upcoming Spring Plant Market. The city will be the meeting point for plant lovers, green thumbs, and everyone eager to learn about native plants, courtesy of the South Carolina Native Plant Society (SCNPS). This event, which aims to protect, restore, and educate the community about the benefits of indigenous plants, heralds the first-ever spring market initiative by the Grand Strand chapter of SCNPS. For the Saturday event, the venue is the Conway Town Green located at 200 Laurel Street in Conway.

Featuring a Variety of Native Plants

The sale will showcase an array of native plants, including carnivorous variations, all of which have acclimated to the local soil and weather patterns. The fact that these plants have adapted to their surroundings makes them generally easier to cultivate than exotic or non-indigenous species. The upcoming spring market offers an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to broaden their knowledge about these local flora.

“It’s essential to make sure you are putting the right plants in the right place. Some of these native plants prefer the sun, while others prefer shade,” explains Tierney Rosenstock, Vice President of the SCNPS Grand Strand Chapter.

Details of the Event

The Spring Plant Market is scheduled for Saturday, May 4. The sale will be open for SCNPS members from 9:00 a.m to 9:30 a.m, providing them with the first-hand opportunity to explore and purchase these native wonders. The spring market officially opens to the general public from 9:30 a.m until 1 p.m.
