Mysterious Drone Sightings Spark Curiosity and Concern Among Myrtle Beach Residents

Myrtle Beach Residents Report Mysterious Drone Sightings

Residents of Myrtle Beach are buzzing with curiosity and a touch of concern as they’ve been spotting mysterious drones hovering high in the sky. With sightings reported in the early morning hours and throughout the day, many locals are left wondering just what these flying machines are up to!

Morning Mystery in Myrtle

It all started when local resident Susan Burkhart noticed a drone above her home around 6 a.m. on Monday. “I didn’t know what it was at first,” she shared. “It wasn’t really moving; it was just hovering up and down, up and down. It was a big white light, and it was blinking off and on.” With her heart racing, Burkhart raced inside to grab her camera, but by the time she returned, the drone had vanished into thin air. “It’s a little frightening,” she admitted. “I mean, you don’t know what it is. You don’t know if it’s somebody playing a joke or if it’s from another country. I would like to know what it is and what they’re doing.”

Curiosity Breeds Concern

Burkhart isn’t alone in her feelings. Many residents are raising their eyebrows and asking questions. If these drones are just being flown for fun, Burkhart wonders if the pilots are even following the rules. And she’s not the only one! The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has specific guidelines for flying drones for recreational purposes.

According to the FAA, drone operators must maintain visual contact with their drone at all times. This means that either the person operating the drone must see it directly or have a buddy close by who is in constant communication with them. Drones should also be kept below 400 feet and must not interfere with other aircraft. Plus, before taking to the skies, operators need to pass a safety test and register their drone.

What Do Locals Think?

What’s Being Done?

Russell Fry to see if he had any insight on the situation and if any measures were being put in place to address public concerns. However, as of now, there hasn’t been any response from Fry’s office.

Stay Informed, Stay Safe!

For now, Myrtle Beach residents will need to keep their eyes on the sky as these drone sightings continue to add a touch of mystery to their beautiful coastal community. Who knows what the skies might reveal next?
