Get Ready, Myrtle Beach! A Special Workout to Honor 9/11 Heroes

Hey there, Myrtle Beach! We have some heartfelt news coming your way! This Saturday, an incredible event is happening where you can work up a sweat and make a difference in the lives of those who have given so much for our country. CrossFit Myrtle Beach is hosting a donation workout to honor the heroes lost on September 11, 2001, and to support our amazing first responders and veterans.

Why This Event Matters

This initiative is spearheaded by none other than Anthony Mazzariello, a retired Marine and New York City firefighter, whose dedicated service on that fateful day was truly heroic. Anthony has lived through the impacts of 9/11 firsthand; he lost friends, and he even faced some serious health struggles connected to his brave efforts. His motivation for this workout is to give back to the community that has supported him since he moved to our beautiful beach town.

“I wanted to do something with the community here,” Anthony said. “This gym helped me bounce back a lot, and I just wanted to bring those people together for a greater good.” It’s all about community spirit, folks!

What to Expect

Mark your calendars! The workout kicks off at 8 a.m. this Saturday at CrossFit Myrtle Beach, located on Waccamaw Boulevard. This isn’t just any workout; each exercise is carefully designed to symbolize the numbers and events of that tragic day. There will be four heat times, matching the times planes went down on 9/11.

And it doesn’t stop there! After these rounds, participants will take on a challenging set of 110 push-ups to commemorate the number of floors in the World Trade Center. The entire experience aims to evoke feelings of exhaustion and accomplishment—all in memory of those who are no longer here with us.

Join the Movement!

The cost to participate is just $20, and every penny goes to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. This foundation is doing amazing things by providing mortgage-free homes to first responders and their families. Let’s show our support, Myrtle Beach!

Now, even if you’re not up for a killer workout session, don’t worry! You can still get involved. Anthony encourages everyone to come along, donate, and cheer on the participants. It’s about coming together as a community to honor the past while supporting each other.

Reflecting on Sacrifice

Anthony is proud of his time as a firefighter and Marine, stating, “The greatest thing I ever did with my life was firefighting and the Marine Corps. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t say ‘no.’” His unwavering commitment to service is just one example of how we can all come together to make a difference.
