Hey Myrtle Beach friends! Get ready for an event-packed weekend as the weather is absolutely glorious! We’ve got sunny skies with a high of 81°F and a low of 53°F, so it’s the perfect time to get outside and soak up that beautiful South Carolina sunshine. With gentle winds blowing in from the north, it’s a great time to chill by the beach or enjoy some local events.
This October 27, a special homecoming is set to unfold at The Dead Dog Saloon in Murrells Inlet. Yup, you guessed it! The talented Josh Brannon Band is back at the very spot where their journey began back in 2009. Frontman Josh Brannon reminisces about how they originally played their first full band show at Dead Dog. “We’ve been around for over two decades and have had the opportunity to share the stage with amazing artists like Clint Black and Jason Isbell,” he noted with pride.
Over the years, in addition to rocking local venues, the band has been dedicated to charity as they head to Tuscumbia, Alabama every year for the Saddle Up for St. Jude horse trail ride event. “It warms my heart to be part of that,” Brannon added. With over 225 shows before the pandemic, Josh knows how to engage an audience, and you can bet he’ll be bringing that energy to the Dead Dog fresh off the local community’s love.
If you’re in the mood for some live tunes, mark your calendars for a great night of music from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; it promises to be a blast!
Jumping to another fun event this weekend, be sure to check out the Children’s Imagination Walk at Brookgreen Gardens on October 26. Don’t forget to wear your costumes because kids are in for a treat! The gardens will turn into a magical realm with a scavenger hunt, mask-making activities, potion-making, pumpkin painting, and so much more!
Your little ones can unleash their creativity and hang their dreams on the famous Wishing Tree, plus enjoy a delightful storytime by the Waccamaw Neck branch library. The event is free with garden admission and runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; it’s a wonderful way for families to bond and enjoy the beautiful fall weather.
The adventure continues with the highly anticipated Tour de Plantersville taking place on the same day, October 26. Cyclists, rejoice! Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just in for the fun, you can pedal through scenic Georgetown County. Choose to ride up to 62 miles along the charming country lanes or simply enjoy the festivities at Plantersville Elementary School.
Join in the fun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., complete with live music, local cuisine, and activities for the kiddos. If cycling isn’t your thing, grab your friends and show your support while enjoying the festival atmosphere. Early registration pricing for the ride starts between $20 to $55, with entry and parking being totally free!
Finally, don’t miss your chance to explore the rich cultural history of Hobcaw Barony on October 29. The Villages of Hobcaw Barony tour offers a unique peek into various African-American villages, complete with captivating storytelling and historical photos. It’s a rewarding experience to connect with the area’s history while enjoying the outdoors. The tour begins at 9:30 a.m. and is just $30. Be sure to dress comfortably and bring plenty of water!
So there you have it, Myrtle Beach! This weekend is bursting with opportunities to make memories with friends and family. Whether you choose to rock out at Dead Dog, let your children explore Brookgreen Gardens, ride through Plantersville, or delve into history at Hobcaw Barony, it’s the perfect chance to embrace the local vibes. Let’s enjoy this incredible weather and make the most of what our beautiful area has to offer!
