‘I just heard five gunshots’: Witness Recalls Weekend Shooting at Myrtle Beach Waffle House

A shocking revelation has come to light regarding a shooting incident in the early hours of this past weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. According to eye-witness accounts, five gunshots were fired at a Waffle House restaurant on Frontage Road East.

Eyewitness Account

A local visitor, Logan Cayon, staying at the Comfort Inn & Suites located across from the embattled restaurant, reported having heard the allegedly fired shots. “All of a sudden, I just heard five gunshots back to back and it was really quick. Then I heard a car pull out really fast. It sounded like they were in a hurry,” Cayon revealed.

Police Response

Myrtle Beach police were alerted to the shooting just before 5 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival at the scene, they found no victims but could apprehend a person relating to the incident. Further details on the arrestment, if any, remain ambiguous.

Residents and Tourists on Alert

The shooting has caused slight unrest among people visiting Myrtle Beach for summer vacations. Lorraine Napoli, vacationing from Philadelphia with her husband, shared her apprehensions, “It’s scary and we have to watch our P’s & Q’s out here. You have to look behind you because you never know,” she said.

Meanwhile, another visitor, Mikinlee Jennings, acknowledged a strong police presence in the area, causing some reassurance. “I got a little startled last night, I thought there was {another} shooting. Turns out it was just fireworks. I do feel pretty safe down here. There are a lot of police around and a lot of people who can protect you,” declared Jennings.

History of Incidents

This incident isn’t the first at the Waffle House location; a similar occurrence took place on June 2, involving an altercation between a customer and the server. The customer allegedly attacked the server upon being confronted about drinking/smoking inside the restaurant. Myrtle Beach police have stated that both incidents are unrelated, and they maintain continued patrolling in the area.

The authorities have advised anyone with any information related to this incident to reach out to the Myrtle Beach Police Department by dialing the non-emergency number: 843-918-1382 and referencing case number 24-011769.
