Set for October 25-27 at the former Myrtle Square Mall site, the Jeep Jam is gearing up for an exhilarating weekend filled with over 120 vendors, thrilling obstacle courses, and a lineup of activities sure to please Jeep enthusiasts of all ages. There’s already a buzz in the community as registration is officially underway, and spots are filling up faster than a sunny beach day opens up.
For those looking to get involved, volunteer opportunities abound, with cool incentives like meal vouchers and stylish work shirts available for those willing to lend a helping hand.
KJ Jordan, one of the volunteers on this critical journey, emphasized the urgent need for basic supplies in the area hit hard by the hurricane. After a bit of improvisation and teamwork, supplies were transferred from a damaged trailer to a generously donated U-Haul, ensuring critical items reached those in need. In a commendable act of generosity, KJ donated $1,000 raised from Myrtle Beach residents to a local church to help with lunch assistance for struggling families.
The North Myrtle Beach Sea Turtle Patrol is keeping a close watch over 11 miles of beach, diligently reporting any turtle nesting activity. Conservation efforts have shown a positive trend, thanks to the implementation of Turtle Excluder Devices and ongoing public education. Turtle enthusiasts can spot the distinctive tracks left behind when these turtles come ashore to nest, and if all goes well, their eggs will hatch in around 60 days.
As adorable hatchlings make their way to the ocean, they face numerous challenges from predators. The success of these little ones reaching the sea is crucial for the species’ survival. The Myrtle Beach community continues to rally together not just to protect these sea turtles but also to educate visitors about the importance of conservation.
