In a shocking incident, a Myrtle Beach man has been accused of severe assault after he allegedly sliced close to severing another man’s nose with a katana sword. The brutal incident occurred after a confrontation involving a kiss at a local gas station. The accused, Pete Michael Anthony Tighe is facing charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Officials responded to reports of a heavily wounded individual at a residence located around Highway 707 and Bay Road. The injured man recounted the terrifying circumstances of his unusual assault. He revealed being attacked with a katana sword at a Circle K location on Holmestown Road in Myrtle Beach. A photograph of Tighe, recognized as a local resident known to carry distinctive knives and weaponry, was also presented by the victim.
This unusual incident reportedly erupted over an altercation centered on a kiss. Tighe allegedly became enraged after witnessing the victim kissing one of Tighe’s family members in the parking lot. The irate man supposedly swung the sword at the victim, drastically injuring him on the nose, following which, he proceeded to corner his victim by chasing him along Highway 707 towards Bay Road.
The victim was found to have a large piece of skin hanging off his nose from the slice and losing a significant amount of blood as a result. Also, a cut was observed above his eye. The stalking complaint led to a search for Tighe, who was reportedly found concealed in the ladies’ restroom of the Circle K gas station. Law enforcement arrested him on the spot.
The charges posed against Tighe are serious. He is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. The local public eagerly awaits updates on this startling case.
