Kiss Confrontation Leads to Sword Attack at Myrtle Beach-Area Gas Station

Pete Michael Anthony Tighe Charged with Assault

In a shocking incident, a Myrtle Beach man has been accused of severe assault after he allegedly sliced close to severing another man’s nose with a katana sword. The brutal incident occurred after a confrontation involving a kiss at a local gas station. The accused, Pete Michael Anthony Tighe is facing charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Details of the Bizarre Incident

Officials responded to reports of a heavily wounded individual at a residence located around Highway 707 and Bay Road. The injured man recounted the terrifying circumstances of his unusual assault. He revealed being attacked with a katana sword at a Circle K location on Holmestown Road in Myrtle Beach. A photograph of Tighe, recognized as a local resident known to carry distinctive knives and weaponry, was also presented by the victim.

This unusual incident reportedly erupted over an altercation centered on a kiss. Tighe allegedly became enraged after witnessing the victim kissing one of Tighe’s family members in the parking lot. The irate man supposedly swung the sword at the victim, drastically injuring him on the nose, following which, he proceeded to corner his victim by chasing him along Highway 707 towards Bay Road.

Victim’s Condition and Tighe’s Arrest

The victim was found to have a large piece of skin hanging off his nose from the slice and losing a significant amount of blood as a result. Also, a cut was observed above his eye. The stalking complaint led to a search for Tighe, who was reportedly found concealed in the ladies’ restroom of the Circle K gas station. Law enforcement arrested him on the spot.

The charges posed against Tighe are serious. He is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. The local public eagerly awaits updates on this startling case.

A Grim Reminder of Rising Assault Cases

This concerning event underscores the increasing number of reports of assaults in the country. The strange choice of weapon, a katana sword, in this case, highlights the need for more stringent weapon regulation and control to ensure public safety. Moreover, the incident also calls into question the security measures in place at public amenities like gas stations.

The rising number of such violent incidents emphasizes the need for a more robust and efficient response from law enforcement forces. The prompt response and arrest in this case provide comfort to the public, ensuring safety and justice prerogative.

Public Appeal

Anyone having additional information about this incident or other similar incidents is encouraged to step forward and report to the local police. Their cooperation is crucial in ensuring public safety and helping bring criminals like Tighe to justice.
