Exciting News for Myrtle Beach: The First-Ever Survivor’s Ball!

Ah, Myrtle Beach! Just when we thought our vibrant little piece of paradise couldn’t get any better, here comes an event that promises to shine a light on an important cause and create a haven for healing. This weekend, grab your dancing shoes and your best outfit, because the inaugural “Survivor’s Ball” is happening right here in town!

What’s the Buzz About the Survivor’s Ball?

Mark your calendars for October 26! From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Breakers Resort is transforming into a warm and inviting space for those who have faced the challenges of domestic violence. It’s organized by a local nonprofit named My Covered Scars, founded by the inspiring Latoya Graham. Talk about a woman with a mission! Latoya started this organization after her own tough journey through domestic violence with her daughters.

Latoya’s Heartfelt Impact

Latoya’s passion for this cause comes from the very real experiences she and her daughters faced. “When we started going through this abuse, there was no one who wanted to share my information, so I created a voice for my daughters and started my own organization,” she expressed. You can feel the strength in her words. Her aim? To create a space where survivors can connect, heal, and understand that they are not alone.

A Night Full of Activities

The Survivor’s Ball is packed with exciting features! Expect activities and performances that not only entertain but also foster connections among survivors. It’s all about embracing strength and sharing stories. Plus, there will be valuable resources available to help everyone on their healing journeys. Whether you’re a survivor yourself or simply looking to support the cause, there’ll be something meaningful for you!

Silent Auction for a Great Cause

One of the highlights of the evening will be a silent auction. You can take home some amazing items while also helping those in need! All proceeds raised from the auction will go directly to three deserving domestic violence survivors aged 16 and up. These scholarships will help them pursue their college dreams, Artistic passions, or kickstart their very own businesses. It’s a win-win for everyone!

Community Love and Support

The Survivor’s Ball isn’t just an event; it’s a testament to Myrtle Beach’s strong sense of community. It’s an opportunity for all of us to come together, show support, and learn more about the resources available for those who have experienced domestic violence. Let’s make it a night to remember, filled with hope and empowerment.
