Well folks, it seems like there was a bit of a mix-up in our beautiful Myrtle Beach, and it’s all thanks to a social media post that sparked quite a frenzy! If you’ve been scrolling through your favorite Myrtle Beach-focused Facebook pages, you might have come across a post that had people scratching their heads and wondering, “Wait, what happened to Ron Jon’s?”
On October 27, 2024, a user on the Myrtle Vegas page dropped a bombshell, claiming that the popular surf shop, Ron Jon’s, located at Broadway at the Beach, had transformed overnight into a discount Halloween store. Can you believe it? Fans of the iconic surfwear spot were in disbelief, trying to figure out which Ron Jon was under discussion.
To put an end to this mystery, it’s important to clarify that Ron Jon’s surf shop – the one we’ve all come to love for our beachwear and accessories – is indeed still very much in business. The confusion arose because there was another Ron Jon’s that was a sports bar located at 3218 Waccamaw Blvd, Unit B, which unfortunately closed its doors back in early 2024. And here’s where the twist comes in!
That former sports bar? It has been cleverly repurposed as a Halloween store, but not by Ron Jon’s! The creative minds at Imaginations Creative Costumes have set up a discount Halloween shop in that space, and it’s causing quite the buzz. Shanna Coley, the owner of Imaginations Creative Costumes, shared that the discount Halloween store will remain open until November 2, 2024, just in time for those last-minute costume needs!
And if you’re a bargain hunter, you’re in for a treat! Coley mentioned that both the Halloween Discount Store and the main store will have a “stay tuned” sale happening on November 1-2 to help clear out inventory. This means you can snag some killer deals, with costumes at the primary store being half-off, and the discount store offering a wild deal – five items for just $20! Now that’s a Halloween treat no one wants to miss!
When it comes to dressing up this spooky season, it looks like our creative folks have their fingers on the pulse of the hottest trends. Coley revealed that some of the most sought-after costumes this year include Beetlejuice, the infamous horror film character Terrifier, superhero Spiderman, and the always popular Deadpool. Not to forget, accessories like wild dreadlocks and cheeky mullet wigs are flying off the shelves!
So, Myrtle Beach, the next time you hear about a “Ron Jon Halloween Store,” remember – it’s a case of mistaken identity! The beloved surf shop isn’t changing themes anytime soon, but our lovely local Imaginations Creative Costumes is keeping the Halloween spirit alive in the former sports bar space. Get out there, find your perfect costume, and enjoy the festivities before the Halloween season wraps up!
Happy Halloween, Myrtle Beach!
