Section of Myrtle Beach Street to Temporarily Close for Road Work

Myrtle Beach Street to Undergo Infrastructure Updates

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – A section of Oak Street, situated between 6th Avenue North and 7th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, is set to close temporarily for nearly six weeks beginning Tuesday. This closure, as announced by the city officials, is in line with the infrastructure work slated for the Arts & Innovation District.

The municipality identified the closure as required to continue utility and sewer work at a new pump station. Contracted employees are tasked to complete the project prior to the South Carolina Department of Transportation launching its Highway 501 realignment at Broadway Street.

Detour Plans and Expected Delays

To help manage the temporary closure of the stretch, detour signs will be posted as guides for drivers. Commuters and residents are urged to plan their routes ahead and expect possible delays. HERE News Network advises all road users to exercise extreme caution while passing through the area, as construction work often poses heightened road traffic safety risks.

Impacts on the Local Community

While the temporary closure of this section of Oak Street may bring inconvenience to local residents and businesses in the area, the road work is a necessary part of the city’s overall infrastructure improvements. These upgrades aim to provide smoother and safer roads for the public, contribute to the city’s development and growth, and significantly enhance the quality of life for residents in the long term.
