Myrtle Beach Police Department introduces new K9 ‘paw-fficers’

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Myrtle Beach Police Department has welcomed two new furry officers to its team. K9 Yogi and K9 Goose were officially sworn in on Monday after completing weeks of rigorous training with their K9 handlers.

Meet the New K9 Team Members

The two new K9 officers, K9 Yogi and K9 Goose, bring a fresh energy to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. K9 Yogi will be working alongside PFC. Aaron Allston, while K9 Goose’s handler is PFC. Hanna Land. Both PFC. Allston and PFC. Land are recent additions to the K9 unit and are thrilled about the opportunity to be part of the K9 team and engage with the community.

Intensive Training Pays Off

Before officially joining the force, K9 Yogi and K9 Goose underwent extensive training to prepare them for their roles as police K9s. From obedience training to specialized scent detection exercises, the new recruits have been equipped with the necessary skills to assist their handlers in various law enforcement operations.

Community Interaction

One of the key responsibilities of the K9 unit is to foster positive relationships with the community. K9 Yogi and K9 Goose, along with their handlers, are eager to engage with residents and demonstrate the important work that police K9s do in ensuring public safety.

Enhancing Law Enforcement Capabilities

With the addition of K9 Yogi and K9 Goose, the Myrtle Beach Police Department has strengthened its law enforcement capabilities. The specialized skills and keen senses of the K9 officers complement the work of human officers, enabling the department to better serve and protect the community.

Conclusion

As the newest members of the Myrtle Beach Police Department, K9 Yogi and K9 Goose are ready to hit the streets and provide invaluable support to their human counterparts. With their dedication, training, and enthusiasm, these ‘paw-fficers’ are poised to make a positive impact in keeping Myrtle Beach safe.
