Sponsor Our ArticlesMyrtle Beach is reeling from a lawsuit against pastor John-Paul Miller of Solid Rock Ministries, alleging sexual assault against a young girl in 1998 and again in 2023. The lawsuit, filed by an Indiana woman using the pseudonym Jane Doe, includes claims of negligence and emotional distress involving multiple churches. This troubling news has shaken the community, especially following Miller’s controversial history and previous scandals. As legal proceedings unfold, the community is left grappling with the implications of these shocking revelations.
In a shocking turn of events, a lawsuit has been filed against the pastor of Solid Rock Ministries in Myrtle Beach. The lawsuit alleges that John-Paul Miller committed heinous acts of sexual assault against a young girl back in 1998 and further assaulted her again just last year. This troubling case is sending ripples through the local community.
On February 25, 2025, an Indiana woman, who is using the pseudonym Jane Doe, officially lodged the lawsuit. The claims are serious, detailing that Miller allegedly raped her when she was just 15 years old. The lawsuit doesn’t just stop there; it includes accusations of sexual assault again in 2023. Jane Doe was attending All Nations Church in 1998 when she first encountered Miller, who then was just 19 years old.
The disturbing details recount a day in July 1998 when Jane Doe claims she was forced into the pastor’s father’s office by Miller, where the assault took place. For nearly two decades, she repressed these memories. However, the trauma resurfaced following another incident involving Miller in a public setting in 2023, which led to immense guilt and self-blame for her silence over the years.
The lawsuit includes not just John-Paul Miller, but also his father, Reginald Wayne Miller, several churches, including Solid Rock Ministries, All Nations Cathedral Church, and The Cathedral Baptist Church of the Grand Strand. The plaintiff is claiming damages for negligence, civil conspiracy, and emotional distress, as well as violations under the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act.
According to the lawsuit, the environment fostered by these churches allegedly allowed for this misconduct, as it is believed that church officials turned a blind eye to the warning signs of abusive behavior by Miller and others in the ministry.
John-Paul Miller’s past has been mired in controversy, especially following the tragic suicide of his wife, Mica Miller, in April 2024. Her family has voiced accusations of emotional and physical abuse against John-Paul, claiming that her struggles with mental health were exacerbated by the tumultuous marriage.
Mica reportedly filed for separation multiple times prior to her untimely death. Medical records indicate she battled issues like bipolar disorder and dependent personality disorder, raising questions about her treatment during their marriage.
In a further twist, the FBI searched Miller’s home in November 2024, although the reasons for this search remain undisclosed. Later that same month, Solid Rock Church closed its doors amid community protests, a decision that many say reflects the tensions surrounding these scandals.
John-Paul Miller’s legal troubles don’t end with the allegations in Jane Doe’s lawsuit. He has faced arrest for third-degree assault related to incidents involving protesters. Meanwhile, his father, Reginald Wayne Miller, has previously plead guilty to federal charges concerning his treatment of international students at his Bible college, adding another layer of complexity to this family saga.
Through it all, Jane Doe alleges that the emotional distress she has endured spans decades, echoing long after those traumatic incidents. As the legal process unfolds, the Myrtle Beach community is left grappling with the vertigo of these shocking revelations, pondering how such events could transpire in a place perceived as a sanctuary.
With John-Paul Miller denying all allegations and claiming a lack of evidence against him, the next steps in this tragic story remain uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the ongoing legal battle is far from over, and the community will be watching closely as more details come to light.
