It’s late October, and you know what that means – fall is upon us! But hold up a minute! This week, it feels more like summer than the cozy fall days we’ve come to expect. On Wednesday, we’re looking at a warm high of 79 degrees. Can you believe it? That’s just a notch below the record of 83 degrees that was sweltering through North Myrtle Beach back in 1991!
So, if you’re thinking about hitting the beach or planning a stroll at the park, you’re in luck. Forecasts say the same warm temperatures will stick around through Thursday, which just so happens to be Halloween, and into Friday as well. What better way to celebrate the spooky season than in a lightweight costume without freezing your bones? The weather is treating us well before we ease back to the comfortable mid-70s that we’re used to for this time of year.
You might be wondering, why is it feeling so warm? Well, meteorologists explain that the cloud cover from the ocean, along with cooler water temperatures and sea breezes, are keeping the heat somewhat in check and preventing us from hitting those record-breaking numbers. So it’s a bit of a mixed bag – warm but not too hot!
Now, let’s talk about rain. Or rather, the lack of it! If you thought October would bring a bunch of rainy days, you’re in for a surprise. According to reports, our area has just gotten 0.08 inches of rain this month. Yep, you read that right! And our weather wizard mentions that forecasts show things are likely to remain “bone dry” for the foreseeable future. So, no need to grab your umbrellas, at least not yet!
This unseasonably warm weather means more time to enjoy those perfectly autumn activities we love here in Myrtle Beach. Whether it’s a late afternoon BBQ, a sunset walk by the water, or just soaking up the sun in your backyard with a good book, you’ve got plenty of time to engage in those outdoor moments.
And how about those Halloween plans? With the warmer weather, you can get creative with your costumes. Just think of all the layers you won’t have to wear! No chilly goosebumps while you’re out trick-or-treating or attending spooky parties. Just make sure to keep it festive and fun!
All in all, while the calendar might say it’s fall, outside it feels like summer is giving us a sweet farewell kiss, and we’re not complaining! Get outside, enjoy the warmth, and soak up this beautiful Myrtle Beach weather. With the holiday season around the corner, we’ll take every bit of sunshine we can get!
So, get out there and enjoy the outdoors while it lasts. Whatever you’re planning this week, make it sunny and bright!
