Suspected Myrtle Beach Murderer Becomes ‘Territorial’ Over Firepit Where he Allegedly Buried Girlfriend

Tensions rise in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina as new accusations come to light against 54-year-old murder suspect, Sheridan Fogle, concerning the alleged killing and burying of his girlfriend, 51-year-old Penni Whiteside.

An Investigation Unfolds

The Myrtle Beach Police Department commenced an exhaustive investigation on May 11, 2022, following Whiteside’s disappearance. The arrest warrant for Fogle revealed that he had alluded to burying something in the backyard to neighbors and would ominously become “territorial” of the area when anyone approached the firepit.

A Homicide Revealed

Over two years after Whiteside’s disappearance, on June 12, police obtained a search warrant for the couple’s former residence on the 600 block of 1st Avenue South. Upon excavation of the firepit, investigators discovered Whiteside’s remains, encased in a wooden box. The manner of death was determined to be “homicide by unspecified means,” as stated in the warrant. This discovery has sent a shockwave throughout the tranquil beach community, prompting much speculation and concern.

History of Domestic Violence

The warrant cites a “well-documented history of domestic violence” between Fogle and Whiteside, shedding light on their turbulent relationship. Fogle was arrested last week, with bond denied by a municipal court judge. He is currently detained at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Community and Police Response

The discovery of the gruesome crime has left the community reeling, with many neighbors expressing their shock and fear. The police are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. This incident vividly underscores the severe consequences of unchecked domestic violence and has prompted a renewed focus on safety, support systems, and victim’s assistance programs within the community.

Reminder to the Public

The local law enforcement bodies continue to maintain an active investigation and they urge anyone with further information about this case to come forward in order to facilitate a thorough investigation and bring about justice for Penni Whiteside.

As news about the unfolding story comes to light, be sure to keep yourself updated. Stay vigilant, be aware, and remember to prioritize safety above all else. It is crucial for everyone to play their part in maintaining the peace and order in our communities.
