Myrtle Beach Bids Farewell to Krispy Kreme on Kings Highway

Myrtle Beach Says Goodbye to Krispy Kreme on Kings Highway

It’s a bittersweet day here in Myrtle Beach. If you’ve recently cruised down Kings Highway, you might have noticed an unfortunate sight: the familiar neon sign of Krispy Kreme at 100 S. Kings Highway has gone dark for good. That’s right, folks—this beloved doughnut haven has officially closed its doors.

What Happened?

As the news circulates, many in our community are scratching their heads and yearning for more doughnut knowledge. A simple sign in the window states, “This shop is permanently closed.” While it didn’t provide much in the way of explanations, it did direct fans of those sugary delights to another store just a quick five-minute drive away. You can still satisfy your sweet tooth at the Krispy Kreme located at 1806 N. Kings Highway, so no need to go too long without your favorite glazed treat!

A representative from Krispy Kreme confirmed the closure but kept things a bit mysterious, saying, “We have closed our Myrtle Beach shop located at 100 S. Kings Highway. It is a privilege to be part of the Myrtle Beach community, and we are so grateful for our fans’ loyalty. We look forward to continuing to serve them at our other nearby shops.” Their words are sweet, reminiscent of the doughnuts we all love, but they left us wondering why this location had to close.

What Does This Mean for Doughnut Lovers?

The closure is tough to swallow, especially for those of us who loved dropping by for a quick pick-me-up of fresh doughnuts and coffee. But fear not, there’s still hope for our sugary cravings! The north store is just a hop and a skip away, meaning we’ll still have our chance to indulge in warm, fresh-from-the-oven doughnuts. Plus, there are still three other Krispy Kreme locations sprinkled around the Myrtle Beach area—so we’re not completely out of luck!

Change is in the Air—at least for this particular space. According to the leasing agent for Pearce Land Company, Krispy Kreme’s lease technically lasts until the end of the year, but they’re actively looking for someone else to take over the space. If you know anyone looking to start a new venture (we wouldn’t mind another doughnut shop!), they can give the leasing office a call at (843) 702-9685.

What’s Next for the Doughnut Scene?

So, what does the future hold for doughnut lovers in our lovely Beach? While we mourn the loss of one Krispy Kreme location, we can always cherish the sweet memories it gave us—like the time you brought the hot now doughnuts to the beach bonfire or when the kids begged for a sugary treat after school.

Let’s keep our spirits up and support the remaining locations while cherishing the small moments that come with biting into a soft, warm doughnut. In the world of sweets, one door closes, and another one opens—hopefully, it’s leading us to even more doughy goodness!

So, grab your friends, hop in the car, and swing by the other Krispy Kreme location. Let’s keep the doughnut spirit alive in Myrtle Beach, one warm bite at a time!
