Myrtle Beach Police Investigate Claims of Harassment Featuring J1 Visa Students
Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Myrtle Beach police department is currently investigating allegations that international students, temporarily residing in the area under a J1 visa, experienced verbal sexual harassment from their host. This allegation led to the students seeking alternative accommodations. As indicated in a police report secured by HERE News Network, the host allegedly made sexually suggestive comments or lewd remarks towards some of the students.
Students Moved Despite Lack of Details
Despite a lack of specific details regarding exactly what was said, the severity of the allegations prompted these students to immediately relocate. The students then informed a housing coordinator regarding the incident, kickstarting formal investigations. The identity of the individual accused of perpetuating these inappropriate comments remains undisclosed at this time.

Yahor Huryonovich, owner of the International Student Center in downtown Myrtle Beach, is concerned about the potential negative effects the incident may have on international students domiciled in the region for the summer. “Students from different countries don’t know how to deal with a situation like this. They usually hesitate to call the police due to the uncertainty of each step and potential danger involved,” Huryonovich expressed.
Myrtle Beach Mayor Sympathizes with International Students
