Exciting Upgrades Coming to Myrtle Beach Golf Courses!

Hey there, Myrtle Beach golf lovers! If you’ve been itching to hit the greens, you’re in for a treat. Several popular golf courses in our area are undergoing some serious facelift projects to enhance your playing experience. Grab your clubs, and let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of these upgrades!

Myrtlewood’s PineHills Course Gets a Bunker Makeover

First up is the PineHills Course at Myrtlewood Golf Club. It’s been getting a complete revamp of its bunkers—that’s right, every single one! Course architect Dan Schlegel has been busy overseeing this major renovation, which started in January and wrapped up in spring.

Now, what does this mean for you? Well, prepare to appreciate a much-improved visual landscape, as these new bunkers are not only more strategically placed but will also help with drainage. Steve Mays, the president of Founders Group International, emphasized how much the playability has improved, saying, “Those bunkers were not in very good shape for the past few years just from a drainage perspective.”

Tidewater Golf Club Reimagines Its Bunkers

Next, we have the Tidewater Golf Club. Under new management by KemperSports, they’re set to kick off their bunker renovations in mid-November, which will carry on until February. The goal is simple: enhance the playability of the course. Chris Cooper, the general manager, noted, “There has been no significant improvement to the bunkers for over 30 years.”

They’re planning to remove about a third of the existing bunkers and reshape others to make them more functional rather than just pretty. Cooper commented on their approach: “A lot of the bunkers originally out here were just placed in areas that really weren’t in play.” The best part? The course will stay open during this renovation, minimizing disruption for golfers!

Prestwick Country Club Upgrades

Switching gears, let’s talk about Prestwick Country Club. They took the opportunity this past winter to redo the bulkheaded sea walls on some key holes. While their front nine was closed for a couple of months, they were nice enough to give players a deal on playing the back nine. Cleanup and upgrade work around the clubhouse were also on the to-do list, adding a fresh touch to the entire venue.

Brunswick Plantation’s Refurbished Facilities

If you’re heading to Brunswick Plantation, you might just notice some renovations around the clubhouse. With a revamped Champions Grill bar area and improved flooring, the club is welcoming golfers back to a lively atmosphere. Plus, they recently rebuilt some bunkers and improved the course’s overall aesthetics and playability.

Legends Resort Gets Path Repairs

At Legends Resort, they’ve focused on making sure your ride around their courses is as smooth as your swing! Repairs to cart paths across multiple courses mean you’ll have a pleasant drive as you navigate between holes.

A New Buzz in the Myrtle Beach Golf Scene

With years of boasting new golf course developments in the Myrtle Beach area dwindling, these renovations bring a fresh excitement to our beloved greens. “It’s good stuff that everyone is going out and renovating golf courses. The destination needs it,” says Mays.

Whether you’re a local or just visiting, these upgrades promise to deliver a more enjoyable experience. Get ready to tee off, and let the renovations bring you back for more unforgettable rounds on the links!
