It’s a sunny day in Myrtle Beach, and if you’re a golf enthusiast, there’s some exciting news coming out of the Myrtlewood Golf Club! The spray of sand and the sound of clubs hitting greens are about to feel even better. That’s right— the PineHills Course has just undergone a significant bunker renovation, and the buzz around the golf community is nothing short of electric!
So, what’s all the fuss about? Well, a large fairway bunker on the 16th hole has been completely rebuilt, and golf lovers are absolutely thrilled. This major facelift is part of an extensive renovation throughout the entire course, affecting all the bunkers, enhancing both playability and aesthetics. Who doesn’t want a little bling on the course?
The renovations kicked off back in May 2024, sparking a wave of excitement among regular players. With these changes, the bunkers not only look better but also offer improved playing conditions. It’s a win-win! Players can now swing with confidence knowing that they’re working with top-notch bunker designs.
The mastermind behind this bunker renovation is none other than course architect Dan Schlegel. He’s no stranger to Myrtlewood, having previously worked on the Palmetto Course during a bunker renovation in 2019. With a track record for quality work, it was a no-brainer to bring him back for this project!
Steve Mays, president of Founders Group International, which owns a whopping 21 Grand Strand courses, shared, “We had such a good experience with him on the Palmetto, when we redid the bunkers on the PineHills we brought him back in.” That’s high praise! Golfers can clearly expect a similar level of excellence with the PineHills renovation.
The renovations are not limited to just the 16th hole; every single bunker on the PineHills Course has been redesigned. This makeover has not only transformed the overall look of the course but has also elevated its playing conditions. The fresh sand and expertly crafted designs promise to give players a new experience when going for those tricky shots.
Even better, Myrtlewood isn’t the only golf club in the Myrtle Beach market making waves; several other local courses like the Tidewater Golf Club and Prestwick Country Club are also undergoing renovations without causing any major disruptions for golfers. It’s like Christmas came early for local golf aficionados!
With the reopening of the PineHills Course, golfers can expect more than just a round of golf. They can anticipate a fun and engaging atmosphere that not only tests their skills but also keeps them coming back for more ego-boosting moments on the green. Nothing feels quite as good as sinking that putt or finally conquering a sandy bunker!
As the Myrtlewood Golf Club gears up for the myriad of players eager to check out the revamped PineHills Course, one can only imagine the laughter and cheers that will ring out as new stories and triumphant rounds unfold on these beautiful fairways.
So, whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just starting out, grab your clubs and get ready to hit the lush fairways of Myrtlewood Golf Club’s PineHills Course. With its sparkling new bunkers, the course promises to be an unforgettable experience. And who knows? You might just walk away with a hole in one!
