Myrtle Beach Sees Major Changes on the Green!

If you’re in Myrtle Beach and have a passion for golf, you’re in for some thrilling news! Recently, a significant renovation project took place at the Myrtlewood Golf Club’s PineHills Course, specifically tackling a rather sizable fairway bunker on the 16th hole.

What’s New at Myrtlewood Golf Club?

In May 2024, the buzz around town was all about this iconic fairway bunker, which has undergone a complete rebuild. That’s right, folks, you can expect to see a fresh and improved version of one of the more challenging features of the course! But hold your horses; this renovation is just part of a broader makeover across several golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area.

That’s the beauty of it—golf enthusiasts didn’t have to adjust their schedules to make room for construction. Courses like Tidewater Golf Club, Prestwick Country Club, Brunswick Plantation, and Legends Golf Resort are also rolling out similar renovations without needing to close their entire layouts. It’s a win-win for players eager to hit the links!

Bunker Bonanza on the PineHills Course

So, what exactly did they do at the PineHills Course? Well, every single bunker has been rebuilt and redesigned to improve both aesthetics and playability. The changes are meant to make the course more visually appealing and enhance the conditions for the golfers. After all, a better experience equals happier players!

Leading the renovation efforts was the skilled course architect Dan Schlegel. If that name rings a bell, it’s because he’s no stranger to Myrtlewood. He previously worked on the Palmetto Course back in 2019 and has extensive experience that the Myrtlewood team was eager to tap into once again.

A Trusty Partnership

“We had such a good experience with him on the Palmetto,” said Steve Mays, president of Founders Group International, which runs a whopping 21 Grand Strand courses! It’s safe to say they were thrilled to bring Schlegel back on board for the PineHills renovation, proving that sometimes the best choice is sticking with what you know works!

These renovations have not only changed the way the course looks but have also contributed to improved conditions that golfers across the area are sure to appreciate. No more worrying about those pesky, sandy bunkers that seem to suck you in every time you miss the fairway!

What’s Ahead?

The PineHills Course’s revitalization is just a fraction of what’s happening in the Myrtle Beach golf scene. As more courses undertake renovations to boost the playing experience, we can look forward to seeing more stunning vistas and enhanced playability. So, whether you’re a seasoned golfer or someone just finding your swing, it’s an exciting time to be out on the green!

In the meantime, if you’re planning on hitting the Myrtlewood Golf Club’s PineHills Course, prepare to be impressed by the luxurious, revamped landscape and maybe grab an edge on your next game thanks to those fancy new bunkers!

So pack your clubs, grab your friends, and get ready to take on the transformed PineHills Course. It’s shaping up to be a great summer of golf here in Myrtle Beach!
