She recounted her experience being on the beach on the ill-fated Saturday night; even though she was located a bit further from the epicenter of the search operation, she could see the hovering Coast Guard helicopters. As the night grew darker, the helicopters continued to circle the area where she was sitting, casting a somber mood over the beachgoers.

According to the official reports, Myrtle Beach police, the United States Coast Guard, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources coordinated efforts to rescue a young man whose body was feared lost in the ocean waves.
