The goal is to raise a total of $8,000 for the Lowcountry Food Bank, which aims to provide food for around 48,000 community members. Organized by Faith Outreach Ministries, this event emphasizes the importance of keeping contributions local and directly supporting neighbors.
The passionate team at Myrtle Beach Bowl believes that every dollar raised will help individuals and families right in our own backyards. Special local participation is expected with various community members joining forces to show their support. Additionally, some familiar faces from the local ABC15 team, alongside their dedicated staff, are also set to make an appearance to encourage people to open their hearts and wallets.
Just a few weeks prior, on October 19, the North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad held its Annual Fish Fry and BBQ Fundraiser starting at 11 a.m. at Ocean Drive Elementary School. This non-profit organization has been providing emergency medical services since 1958 and relies entirely on volunteers from the local community. The group anticipated serving up to 2,000 delicious meals, with an all-you-can-eat menu priced at just $15. Families were encouraged to come along, enjoy the food, and even take home leftovers!
In a different yet equally important event, the Mica’s Benefit Concert was held at Grand Park in The Market Common. This concert aimed to honor the memory of Mica Miller and raise awareness about domestic violence. Running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the event featured a lively mix of performances from various bands, a designated kids zone, raffle giveaways, and food trucks, fueling the fun and community spirit.
Mica’s life inspired many in the community, and her story sparked vital discussions about domestic violence. A charity named Waymakers was established to continue her legacy and ensure that her message of awareness reaches even further. The local band from Socastee High School, which Mica attended, played a special tribute performance, and photos of her adorned the event, celebrating her impactful life.
