Ticketholders for the Thursday and Saturday game days of the imminent Myrtle Beach Classic are up for a treat. Along with an exemplary display of golf, attendees will have the privilege of enjoying a stupendous musical performance starting at 6 p.m. each night.
The Swingin’ Medallions, noted to be a second generation of the beach rock band that reached No. 17 on the Billboard chart in 1966 with their hit track, “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love,” will charm the Thursday crowd. The energy they bring with each of their performances, as well as the rich instrumentation inspired by their South Carolina roots, is bound to resonate with the crowd. Having previously performed with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on its reunion tour, this band’s stop at the Myrtle Beach Classic is one of the many stops in their current tour.
The stage Saturday will host the award-winning country duo Thompson Square. The stellar husband-and-wife team, Keifer and Shawna Thompson, have won the Vocal Duo of the Year four times from the Country Music Association and three additional times from the Academy of Country Music. Famous for top chats hits such as “Are You Going to Kiss Me or Not,” the duo’s stellar performance is sure to keep the crowd enchanted. Their most recent romantic ballad,”Without You,” was released in 2023 and resonated greatly with their fans.
The Myrtle Beach Classic is a premier dual-field PGA TOUR event sponsored by Visit Myrtle Beach and adeptly managed by SPORTFIVE, a leading global event management firm. In 2024, the event will join the RBC Heritage in April at Harbour Town Golf Links as one of two stops in the Palmetto State for the PGA TOUR.
The tournament will be held at the iconic Dunes Golf & Beach Club. The club was incorporated in 1948 with a beautifully designed course by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones. The club has been a historical site for the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship on the PGA TOUR Champions from 1994 to 1999. Notable players like Raymond Floyd, Jim Colbert, Jay Sigel, Gil Morgan, Hale Irwin, and Gary McCord have claimed titles at this prestigious championship.
Furthermore, in 1973, The Dunes Club was the site of the PGA TOUR Q-School Finals with the legendary Ben Crenshaw taking top honors.
With such an enriching blend of sport and music, attendees at the Myrtle Beach Classic will be treated to an experience to remember. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting event.
