A Decade-long Tradition Continues
The First Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach extended its yearly tradition of honoring and celebrating America’s veterans with an annual concert. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the American Celebration Concert which attracted a large audience from the local community and beyond.
Church Choir Steals the Show
The concert was led by the Wesley Chancel Choir and included performances by various friends of the congregation. The performers’ repertoire included a mix of American music, patriotic songs, and beloved hymns. Engaging the audience further, the choir frequently encouraged them to join in singing some of the well-known melodies.
A Tribute to Veterans
As a special addition to the concert, a unique segment was dedicated to recognizing veterans from each military branch. The audience jointly celebrated these individuals, showing their admiration and gratitude for the sacrifices made in service to the country.
A Word from the Choir Director
Norman McQueen, the Choir Director of the First Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach, expressed his thoughts after the event. “We’re just so grateful for a community that supports, not only the arts, but supports the community and gives a place to celebrate all the wonderful freedoms that we have here in Myrtle Beach,” he said.
Free for Everyone
The concert was open to all and did not require an entrance fee. This characteristic of the event allowed a much broader range of people to appreciate the performance, and it facilitated a stronger sense of community within Myrtle Beach.
American Celebration Concert: A Testament to Unity
For a decade now, the event has stood as a symbol of unity and patriotic dedication, bringing the community closer year after year to celebrate the spirit of freedom. The American Celebration Concert has not only honoured veterans but has also given an opportunity to the community to unite and to reflect on the significance of their sacrifices.
