Detailed investigations led by the Attorney General’s office concluded that Chan was in “possession of files of child sexual abuse material.” This crime is a felony punishable by up to 10 years-imprisonment per charge.

Collaboration of Law Enforcement Agencies

The Horry County Sheriff’s Office, Conway Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the ICAC task force collaborated in making the arrest and carrying out the subsequent investigation.

Chan is currently held at the J Reuben Long Detention Center, following his arrest on the aforementioned charges.

Increasing Concerns about Child Protection

This incident highlights an alarming trend regarding the safety and security of minors in online spaces. It is crucial for authorities to maintain unyielding vigilance in monitoring and curbing these activities.
