Hello, Myrtle Beach! It seems our beautiful city is buzzing with some big news, and we just can’t wait to share it with you. The search for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is officially underway! After nearly three months of being without a permanent leader, things are starting to pick up speed, and we’re feeling optimistic about the future.
A wave of fresh energy is rolling in as a 10-person executive search team has come together to find the perfect fit for the role. This committee was formed after the Chamber and CVB has been operating without a permanent CEO since June when the previous leader, Karen Riordan, decided to step down to explore other career opportunities and, of course, spend more time with her family. We can’t blame her; family is important!
But don’t worry, Myrtle Beach! Until the search committee finds our next CEO, Tracy Conner will be holding down the fort as the interim CEO of both the Chamber and CVB. Tracy, who is also the Executive Director of the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association, has stepped into the role with grace and professionalism during this transitional period, ensuring that important initiatives continue to move forward.
The search committee is aiming to wrap up this process within the next three to four months. According to a press release from the Chamber and CVB, they’re determined to find someone who not only aligns with the values of our community but also has a vision for driving tourism and local businesses forward. So, you can expect lots of updates as they kick this search into high gear.
You might be wondering why this role is so crucial for our lovely Myrtle Beach. Well, the CEO of the Chamber and CVB is like the captain of our ship! This person will be steering the course for tourism, working to uplift local businesses, and highlighting what makes our area a must-visit destination. With tourism playing such a significant role in our economy, having the right person at the helm is certainly going to set us up for more success.
One exciting aspect of this search process is that it’s not just about the committee finding *someone*; they will be seeking input and feedback from the community along the way. After all, you, the residents, play a huge role in what makes Myrtle Beach special. It’s an opportunity for you to share what you think is important in finding our next leader.
So as we look toward the next few months, let’s keep our fingers crossed for a leader who will champion our community, promote our gorgeous beaches, and support our local businesses. With so much potential on the horizon, it will be thrilling to see the journey unfold. Remember, Myrtle Beach, this is your chance to be part of something exciting. The future is bright!
Stay tuned for more updates as we await the exciting news of our new CEO. Here’s to the vibrant spirit of Myrtle Beach and the fantastic possibilities that lie ahead!
