Dog, Bicycle & Umbrella Rules to Change After Labor Day in Myrtle Beach

Starting on the Tuesday following Labor Day, dogs and bicycles will be permitted on the beach at any time of the day. Tent and canopy use will also be permitted, with size restrictions up to 12 by 12 square feet. This ensures that all beachgoers have adequate space to enjoy their time at the beach.

Umbrella Guidelines

Beachgoers planning to set up their space with an umbrella should take note of the revised positioning rules. Umbrellas must now be aligned with or set up behind the lifeguard posts. This is to ensure that lifeguards have an unobstructed view of the beach, enhancing safety measures for all present.

Existing Beach Regulations

While these changes will come into effect post Labor Day, a number of year-round rules remain in place that beachgoers should remember. These regulations include prohibitions on alcohol, glass containers and bottles, thong-style bathing suits, and disturbing or damaging the dunes, the sand fencing, or the sea grass oats. Additionally, swimming is not allowed within 75 yards of a pier and commercial activities are disallowed on the public beach. Any violation of these rules may invoke penalties, including fines up to $500 and/or 30 days in jail.
