The streets of downtown Myrtle Beach will once again be transformed into an open-air art gallery as the community prepares for the arrival of the monthly First Friday Artwalk on Friday, August 2. The event is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the city’s rich array of talent across various artistic mediums.

Diverse Showcases of Local Talent

The Artwalk, organized by the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance, will kick off at 5 pm and conclude at 8 pm showcasing an evening filled with vibrant artistic and cultural offerings. Embracing a spirit of community and cultural exchange, the artists of Myrtle Beach will be displaying their skills in painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, and more. Fans of varied artistic expressions can look forward to a series of live aesthetic performances offering an environment of creative interaction as artists demonstrate their working processes during the event.

A Growing Cultural Event

Home to a thriving arts culture, the Artwalk launched in 2017 under the initiative of local photographer Carl Kerridge and artist William H. Miller. Their vision for a platform to highlight the artistic culture of the city has only grown over the years, with the William H. Miller Studios hosting a reception during each Artwalk.

Jason Greene, Chief Executive Officer of the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance, remarked on the import of the event, “Myrtle Beach has a vibrant arts culture, and we believe these monthly events are the perfect venue to highlight that culture. Our intent is for this event to continue to grow month after month.”

Inviting to All

The Artwalk aims to build a stronger, more connected community while promoting local creativity. It showcases the heart of Myrtle Beach’s cultural scene and offers a place for residents and visitors alike to be part of the city’s thriving talent.

With local businesses and numerous galleries participating, attendees can explore a myriad of creative expressions while enjoying dining specials and drinks provided by downtown restaurants. Emphasizing accessibility, the event is free for all and warmly encourages family attendance.

Whether you are an art enthusiast or simply enjoy a vibrant community atmosphere, the First Friday Artwalk in Myrtle Beach is shaping up to be an event not to miss.
