Myrtle Beach is well-known for its incredible beaches and vibrant nightlife, but this friendly city also boasts a thriving and diverse arts scene. This talent will come to the forefront at the First Friday Artwalk hosted by the Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance on Friday, August 2.
The monthly event, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., will transform downtown Myrtle Beach into a buzzing art hub. “Myrtle Beach has a vibrant arts culture, and we believe these monthly events are the perfect venue to spotlight that culture. We’ve added several live performances from painting, pottery, improv, language arts and open mic. Our intention is for this event to keep growing every month,” stated Jason Greene, Chief Executive Officer of Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance.
The initiative was started in 2017 by local photographer Carl Kerridge and artist William H Miller. Over time, it has continued to grow with William H Miller Studios hosting an art reception every month. This has allowed attendees to discover the diverse and talented local artists and their creations.
Participating galleries and businesses will feature works from artistic mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, and more. Several artists will be live painting, providing attendees a unique opportunity to watch art come alive right before their eyes. Savour dining specials and drinks offered by downtown restaurants during the event, making the experience a delightful cultural immersion.
The First Friday Artwalk is not just restricted to art enthusiasts. It is a free, family-friendly event, ensuring everyone can appreciate the eclectic mix of local talent on display. As it stands, it is truly a testament to the cultural diversity and artistic talent in Myrtle Beach. Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind community gathering!
