In the heart of South Carolina’s coastal gem, the Myrtle Beach artisans are diligently preparing for the anticipated return of the Craftsmen’s Summer Classic Art & Craft Festival this weekend. This eminent event will draw in a crowd of talented artists and craftsmen from over 15 different states nationwide, each eager to display their creative offerings in the diverse artistic community of Myrtle Beach.
To ensure the highest level of originality and creativity, all works to be showcased have gone under the scrutiny of a meticulous judging process. From ceramics to jewelry, every piece chosen promises to uphold the festival’s high standards of artistic excellence.
Amy Cox, a craftswoman from Albatross Pottery, has been religiously participating in the festival for nearly two decades. The Myrtle Beach native has been busily gearing up for the festival for months, attuning her artistic senses and honing her craft. In her own words, the festival is “one of her biggest shows of the year,” where she gets to witness the fresh wave of creativity brought in by returning and emerging artists alike.
The festival is slated to run from Friday through Sunday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Pottery, fine art, handmade jewelry, intricately designed furniture, eye-catching sculptures, unique photography pieces and even specialized gourmet foods will feature as part of the diverse range of exhibits. Amy Cox emphasizes the unique appeal of the festival, stating that “Everything is touched from beginning to end by a craftsman’s hands. It’s small batch. So, you know you have to grab it quick on Friday, or it’s going to be gone the next day.”
Adult tickets for the event are priced at $9 while kids aged six through 12 can purchase their tickets for just $1. In an effort to encourage participation across all three days, event organizers are offering a free return pass with every ticket purchase. Attendees can additionally avail $7 tickets online until Thursday for this much-awaited artistic extravaganza.
With the anticipation of the Craftsmen’s Summer Classic Art & Craft Festival running high among both local and out of state artisans, the beach town of Myrtle Beach can be sure to expect a weekend full of artistic inspiration and unique discoveries.
