Serious Accident in Myrtle Beach Leads to DUI Charges and Injuries

Serious Accident in Myrtle Beach Leads to DUI Charges

In our beautiful city of Myrtle Beach, a terrifying accident over the weekend has left one man charged with DUI after another driver was seriously injured. It all started Saturday evening at the intersection of 29th Avenue North and Highway 17 Bypass. As we know, weekends are meant for relaxation and enjoyment, but this incident serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers on the road.

What Happened?

According to the reports, 29-year-old Micah Parag was behind the wheel when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses didn’t miss the chaos that unfolded right in front of them. The crash involved Parag and another vehicle, leaving one driver with what authorities described as “great bodily injury.” Can you imagine the fear that must have gripped everyone around as they witnessed such a scary scene?

The Investigation

When officers arrived, they quickly noted some concerning signs about Parag. They reported that he appeared under the influence, describing him as having “red glossy eyes” and that there was “an odor of alcohol emitting from his person.”

Even more alarming, a cup containing an alcoholic beverage was found in his vehicle. Talk about a recipe for disaster! If that wasn’t enough, Parag allegedly admitted to having been drinking all day with the owner of the car he was driving. Adding to this unsettling situation, it turned out that his driver’s license has been suspended due to habitual offender status until 2026. It’s hard not to shake your head at how all of this unfolded.

Current Status

After the incident, Parag was whisked away to the Myrtle Beach Jail before being transferred to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. He now faces serious charges, including driving under the influence resulting in great bodily injury and driving under suspension. As of Tuesday, he is still behind bars, held on a bond of $85,000. That’s a pretty hefty price to pay for a reckless night out!

Learns from This Experience

This unfortunate event serves as a reminder to all of us here in Myrtle Beach. While we love our weekends filled with fun, food, and, sometimes, a drink or two, it’s crucial to keep safety at the forefront of our minds. Make sure to have a plan for getting home—whether it’s a designated driver or a rideshare option. The roads are not just a path from point A to point B; they can also be the scene of serious consequences.

Final Thoughts

We can only hope for the swift recovery of the individual who was injured in the crash and that they are surrounded by loved ones during this difficult time. As this story unfolds, it’s essential that we all stay informed and committed to making better choices when we’re out on the town. Myrtle Beach is a great place to enjoy life, but let’s make sure we’re doing it responsibly!

Stay safe out there, folks! Together, we can keep our community a wonderful place to live and enjoy.
