Country soul singer and 2023 “American Idol” contestant, Mariah Faith, is filming the music video for her new single, “Sweet Carolina,” in Myrtle Beach, SC area. The filming, which is slated for Tuesday, July 23, 2024, will take place in downtown Conway. The video seeks to capture the essence of Faith’s hometown, South Carolina, as she invites the community to be a part of the process.
Having found fame on the popular reality TV show, “American Idol,” Faith decided to return to her roots after feeling homesick for her “slow moving” hometown. While in Nashville, she started writing about her experiences growing up in South Carolina, which culminated in this new single.
The filming at Stella’s Homemade Ice Cream, located at 1101 4th Ave, Conway, will happen in the evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This shoot will be part of a three-day filming bonanza, capturing all of Faith’s favorite localities within South Carolina.
On Monday, the singer began her shoot by capturing the enchanting sunrise on the beach. The evening shoot will see her interacting with the beloved elephant, Bubbles, at Myrtle Beach Safari. She is also planning to film scenes on the water. The Tuesday shooting session is described as “denim and dancing,” with local folk taking part in a vibrant dance sequence outdoors. Moreover, Faith announced that a local’s father plans to ride a horse through downtown Conway as part of the video.
The music video aims to encapsulate all that is lovingly referred to as “redneck sh**,” from the archetypical dances to the denims and even horse riding, according to Faith.
The single “Sweet Carolina” is scheduled to be released on July 26. It will be available on all major streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. Music lovers can pre-save the single on these platforms. The album release is slated for a week or two later.
Following the single’s release, Faith plans to perform live at the Opry Plaza, the park-like setting around the iconic Grand Ole Opry House.
It can be recalled that Faith’s journey on “American Idol” ended when she did not make it to the top 12 of the reality show in April 2023. However, she was among the top 20 contestants, marking an important milestone in her career.
