Fifth Day of Intense Search for Missing Greenville County Senior After Discovery of Empty Vehicle

Intensified Search Continues for Missing Greenville County Senior on its Fifth Day

TRAVELERS REST, S.C.

The search for Mark Wagnon, a missing 66-year-old man, continues on Friday as investigators found his empty vehicle. Wagnon, who is considered in danger due to medical concerns, was reported missing from Greenville County on Monday.

Vehicle Discovery Triggers Search Expansion

A hiker in Oconee County discovered Wagnon’s gray Nissan Sentra on Tower Road off Highway 107 on Thursday. The vehicle was found parked near a gate at Oconee State Park, its keys still in the ignition. Despite the discovery of his car, there is no sign of Wagnon as of yet.

Missing Report Initiated From Geer Highway

Wagnon was reported missing from the area near Northwest Middle School in Travelers Rest around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Interestingly, later that night he was seen near the Stumphouse Ranger Station on Highway 28, located in the same county where his vehicle was eventually found.

Oconee County Sheriff’s Office’s Appeal to Residents

A spokesperson for the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is now appealing to residents in the area to search their properties and review any doorbell or surveillance footage for potential clues about Wagnon’s whereabouts. The missing man is described as being 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing about 158 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue polo-style shirt, blue jeans, and dark brown glasses.

Wagnon Likely To Be Headed North or West

Investigations believe that Wagnon might have been en route towards either North Carolina or Georgia when he disappeared. He has ongoing health complications that affect his memory and require immediate medical attention.

Enlistment of Multiple Law Enforcement and Emergency Agencies

Besides the Greenville County and Oconee County sheriff’s offices, several other agencies, including Greenville County EMS, Mountain Rest Fire, Prisma EMS, the SC Department of Natural Resources, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, have joined in the search undertakings. They have urged anyone with information concerning Wagnon’s location to contact 911 right away.
