MYRTLE BEACH, SC

According to the National Hurricane Center, a developing area of low pressure off of the Carolina coast has been given a low chance of development. This system is forecasted to generate some much-needed rainfall for the region this weekend, providing relief from the recent dry spell.

Low Chance of Development

The National Hurricane Center specifies a 10% chance of development for the expanding low pressure system off the Carolina coast. Environmental conditions are presently only marginally favorable for further development. However, these conditions could change in the next couple of days before the system moves inland this weekend.

Tropical Humidity to Persist

Tropical humidity is expected to remain prevalent across the Carolinas from Thursday to Saturday, with a chance to increase further. In conjunction with the high humidity, a weak low-pressure area and a stationary front will contribute to generating a much higher probability for the requisite rainfall.

Anticipated Rainfall

The highest chance of rainfall is expected on Friday when heavy rain could develop locally in some areas. According to the latest data obtained, rain chances have been kept high on Friday, marking a 60% probability. By Saturday, the probability of storms returns to 40%, but isolated pockets of heavy rainfall will remain a possibility, especially during the afternoon hours.
