Jamestown Dominates Season Opener

In a spectacular start to the season, the Jamestown Red & Green baseball team asserted their dominance with a resounding 9-4 victory over Hampshire, West Virginia. The team wasted no time in taking the lead, scoring five runs in the first inning, setting the tone for the rest of the game. The highlight of the game came from Chase Bonta, who smashed a three-run home run in the first inning.

Leading the charge for Jamestown was Caleb Piazza, who delivered an impressive performance with four hits, including two doubles. Dom Weber also made significant contributions with two hits, a double, and three runs scored. Antonie Rodriguez was stellar on the mound, pitching three innings and striking out four batters. Owen Glover sealed the deal with a solid four-inning performance, allowing just one walk.

Frewsburg Bears Dominate in Opener

The Frewsburg Bears also kicked off their season on a high note with a commanding 11-1 victory over Lake City, South Carolina. The game was highlighted by Aidan Gruber’s walk-off solo home run in the sixth inning, triggering the mercy rule and securing the win for the Bears. Harrison Eckert, Maddox Sheesly, and Mason Eckman also made significant contributions to the team’s impressive victory.

On the pitching front, Chase Haglund delivered a stellar performance for the Bears, throwing three hitless innings and striking out seven batters. Vincent Sanfilippo maintained the momentum, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out six batters.

Dunkirk Puts Up a Fight

While Dunkirk faced a tough loss to North Moore with a final score of 6-5, the team showcased resilience and determination throughout the game. Despite falling behind early, Dunkirk clawed their way back into the game, tying the score at 5-5 in the fifth inning. Donnie Jackson’s two-run homer was a standout moment for Dunkirk, highlighting the team’s never-give-up attitude.

Coach Frank Jagoda emphasized the importance of execution for Dunkirk, noting that attention to detail could have led to a different outcome. Despite the loss, Dunkirk’s offensive efforts, led by Josh Lemanski and Jackson, showcased the team’s potential for success in future games.
