What an exhilarating start to the 2025 Columbia Classic! The Illinois State women’s golf team has jumped into the lead after two rounds of thrilling play at the beautiful Duran Golf Club located in sunny Viera, Florida. With their impressive rounds of 288 and 294, the team has stacked up a total of 582, showcasing their skill and determination on the course.

A Close Competition

As they wrap up the second round, Illinois State finds themselves just two strokes ahead of second-place rival Princeton, which finished with a score of 584. It’s a tight contest out there, as Seton Hall is not too far behind in third place with a total of 594, followed closely by Penn at 597 and Dartmouth at 599. These schools are all vying for the top, making for an exciting atmosphere. Rounding out the competition are Boston University (604), Marshall (607), Emory (608), Columbia (609), Quinnipiac (613), Youngstown State (617), and Duquesne at 643. With twelve teams in the mix, every stroke counts!

Individual Performances Shine

Stealing the spotlight on the individual leaderboard is the talented graduate student-athlete Jinyoung Yun, who sits atop with a remarkable 36-hole score of 140. Her rounds of 71 (one-under) and 69 (three-under) have propelled her to the forefront of the competition. In fact, Yun stands out as the only player so far to finish under par through the first two rounds. This feat is truly a testament to her prowess on the greens!

Following closely behind, Catherine Rao, currently ranked 48th nationally, has posted an admirable score but trails Yun by two strokes. The competition is fierce, and every player is hoping to make a mark in the final round.

In addition to Yun’s stellar play, teammates are also delivering solid performances. Morgan Jones has secured a spot in the top 10, thanks to her consistent rounds of 72 and 74, bringing her total score to 146. Meanwhile, Jessica Jolly is making her presence felt as she sits tied for 12th place with scores of 70 (two-under) and 78, totaling 148.

And let’s not forget about Elise Fennell, who made a remarkable improvement from four-over 76 in Round 1 to two-over 74 in Round 2, placing her in a tie for 19th with a total of 150. Meanwhile, Lory Paradis has maintained her footing, tied for 28th after rounds of 75 and 77, resulting in a score of 152.
