Hurricane preparedness in action.
Date and Time: Join us on June 1, 2024, at Coastal Carolina University for Ed’s Hurricane Hustle. The 5K race begins at 8 a.m. and the one-mile fun run starts at 8:10 a.m.
If you wish to participate, registration is still open. Register early as fees increase after May 30. Packets can be picked up on May 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black Dog Running Company or on race day between 7 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. at Brooks Stadium.
Parking is available at the GG and KK lots close to the event start and finish areas.
The 5K race will finish on the Teal Turf at Brooks Stadium, providing a thrilling end to the race.
Following the race, attendees can visit the Hurricane Expo. The expo includes presentations on hurricane preparedness, response, and recovery from various agencies and organizations. Chief Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski will give a special talk on the 2024 hurricane forecast and discuss major historical storms affecting the region.
The event combines a fun and competitive run with educational opportunities on hurricane preparedness. It’s a day to engage with the community, enhance awareness about safety and preparation for the hurricane season.
